Andy Kaufman – My Breakfast with Blassie

In 1983, Andy Kaufman and pro wrestler “Classy” Freddie Blassie met for breakfast at Sambo’s restaurant in downtown Los Angeles and together filmed “My Breakfast with Blassie”–a spoof of Louis Malle’s 1981 art house film “My Dinner With Andre.” Both films feature an uninterrupted conversation between two protagonists at a restaurant. While Malle’s film observes New York playwright Wallace Shawn and theater director Andre Gregory discussing larger life issues and personal philosophies, Kaufman (the self-proclaimed Intergender Wrestling Champion of the World) and Blassie (the self-proclaimed King of Men) talk wrestling, fame and breakfast food. This is an excerpt of the 60-minute film, more of which can be found at YouTube.
