Frey Residence in Palm Springs, 1956

Albert Frey is arguably the father of Desert Modernism and was Palm Spring’s first, full-time resident architect. A mentee of Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier, Albert Frey moved to Palm Springs in 1934 and built his own house in the desert in 1941. Julius Shulman photographed Frey’s home throughout its development, which included a solarium, a swimming pool outside, and a garden pool.
