Jennifer Bolande, an Invitation…
Dennis Balk originally published this essay in a 2011 exhibition catalogue. He writes,
“Jennifer Bolande is one of my favorite artists, her work is always challenging and unpredictable in all the right ways. She is also a good friend and we have known each other for years. Nicholas Frank at INOVA in Milwaukee asked if I would do a retrospective with him and through that connection Jennifer did one too. Her exhibition got connected to a catalog titled “Landmarks”, and she asked if I would write a sort of artist inside text for the catalog. So this text, “Jennifer Bolande: An Invitation…”, originally appeared in her catalog published by JRP/Ringier.”
