The Rize of David LaChapelle
“If L.A. had a photographic style, it would be his,” so says Stephen Cohen, photo guru and producer of PHOTO LA – Los Angeles’ longest running fine art show. Rize (2005), a Sundance favorite and DLC’s only feature film, functions as a kind of codex of creation, a stylistic key that can be used to fathom this artist’s work, enabling us to parse his preoccupation with Los Angeles and its culture. Fabrik Magazine’s cover story examines Lachapelle’s long career. Click on any of the nine illustrations to blow them up.
