Unforgetting L.A. #13 with Dirty Looks
Join us at Cuties for the next meetup in our Unforgetting LA Wikipedia series. This iteration, presented in partnership with Dirty Looks: On Location 2018, will focus on LA’s LGBTQ places and queer histories. Beginners are encouraged to attend! We’ll start with a training workshop at 7pm that will walk you step-by-step through the process of editing and creating Wikipedia articles. Bring your own laptop or tablet computer, power adapter, and any reference materials you’d like to work from or share.
FREE; RSVP required.
Cuties is a queer owned and operated coffee bar located in East Hollywood. Aside from serving top notch coffee, espresso, and tea, Cuties hosts events and programming centered around food, dancing, music, queer media, coloring, and crafting, and they provide space at low-to-no cost for support groups and other community organizers. They provide coffee, food, and event tickets to everyone regardless of financial status. If you’d like to contribute to what they’re building, consider becoming a patron at hicuties.com/fund.
Why Wikipedia?
Wikipedia is the world’s fifth most popular website and a go-to source for facts online. Anyone can edit Wikipedia, but not everyone does. Studies show that fewer than 13% of Wikipedia contributors identify as female and 75% are under the age of 30; content is skewed by the lack of representation by women and important stories remain untold. We’re working to change that.
