Jordan Wolfson

Ecce Homo / le Poseur
$45

In 2012-13, REDCAT in Los Angeles and Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst (S.M.A.K.) in Ghent concurrently produced the most comprehensive survey of New York-based artist Jordan Wolfson’s oeuvre to date. For his first solo exhibition in Los Angeles, Wolfson presented Raspberry Poser, an ambitious synthesis of digital video, computer-generated imagery (CGI) and hand-drawn animation. Employing materials culled from Internet image searches, the artist’s own lived experience and the histories of art and popular entertainment, Raspberry Poser touches upon and undermines the gravity of such pervasive themes as life, death and love.

This publication features this very work alongside remarkable animations Con Leche (2009) and Animation, masks (2011), displayed in full-scale color plates and grounded by texts by  Esther Leslie and Linda Norden, a conversation between Aram Moshayedi and Wolfson, and a letter personally addressed to the artist by Philippe Van Cauteren.

This publication is a catalogue of Wolfson’s 2012-2013 exhibtiions at REDCAT, and is the nost comprehensive survey of Wolfson’s work to date.
