Anonymous Need (BlackBerry), 2013

This limited edition work by Los Angeles–based artist Liz Glynn is derived from her installation Anonymous Needs and Desires (Gaza/Giza), first exhibited in 2012 for the Made in L.A.biennial exhibition at the Hammer Museum. The installation included a number of cast lead objects—heads of garlic, cigarettes, pain medication, a bar of chocolate—that were copies of items reportedly smuggled across the Egyptian border into Gaza. Created from a mold of Glynn’s own BlackBerry mobile phone, Anonymous Need (BlackBerry) weighs approximately 2 lbs.
