A Merry Christmas by Ed Emshwiller, 1951
Artist Ed Emshwiller (1925-1990) was “a major figure in the history of video art,” an experimental filmmaker and expressionist painter. Starting in the 1950s, his illustrations appeared on the covers of dozens of science fiction magazines and pulp novels.
Emshwiller’s papers are archived at CalArts– where he’d served as dean of the School of Film/Video and provost.
