Galka Scheyer in Schindler’s Kings Road House, 1931
A gathering place for Los Angeles’s emigres and bohemians, the Schindler House was home to R.M. Schindler and his wife Pauline, and architect Richard Neutra and his wife Dione. This image shows the art collector and dealer Galka Scheyer, who lived there briefly upon her arrival in Los Angeles. Her life and mission to promote the art of the Blue Four is explored in Darcy Tell’s The Art Lover: Galka Scheyer’s Higher Calling.(East of Borneo, December 2010)
