Robert Heinecken, Revised Magazine: Jungle Prints / Cuts / Porno

Robert Heinecken (1931-2006) started working with superimposed or collaged imagery in the mid 1960s. As one critic wrote, Heinecken viewed photography “as forms of cultural iconography that reflected the commercialism and venality of contemporary life.” He was an important predecessor to artists like Sherrie Levine, Barbara Kruger, and Richard Prince.
